This piece is inspired by one of the birds on the red list. These are birds listed as being endangered in the UK by the RSPB.
The Song Thrush: This bird has a habit of repeating phrases and so the music is in the form of a rondo. There is an element of country folksong to this piece hinting at a bygone era of innocence where none of these birds were endangered.
