Simple Songs for Simple Swains was arranged for Carol Kniebusch Noe and the James Madison University Flute Choir in 1995, and was scored for piccolo, four C flutes, alto and bass flutes. Because larger instruments, notably contrabass and sub-contrabass flutes, are now making their appearance the work has now been revised and re-scored for full flute orchestra. Alternative parts for the rarer instruments are supplied.
This is the 2011 revised version. The original version is still available for smaller flute choirs, but please note that a few small changes have been made in the revised version for expanded flute choir, so that the two versions are not compatible and cannot be used together.
