Nickos Harizanos - Onwards to Primitiveness op. 198 (2017)
For baroque flute and electronics
This work was composed in 2017 and is dedicated to Carla Rees. It was a great challenge for me to compose a work for such a rare combination – baroque flute and electronics, thanks to Carla. This is a single movement work, divided into three parts in ABA’ form. In this sense it is a miniaturized set of baroque movements in fast-slow-fast order. The electronic materials for the two external parts is based on staccato and percussive sounds, while the middle, slow movement, functions like an echo of the baroque flute phrasing.
Duration 5’30 approx.
Premiere: Carla Rees, baroque flute, Iklectik, London 3 June 2017
The baroque flute part is to be played at a pitch of A=415
