Georgia Cooke (b. 1994) is a British composer based in London, UK. She studied at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance with Anna Noakes, and previously at Brunel University with Colin Riley, Peter Weigold, Sarah Nichols and John Croft, where she graduated with a first-class honours degree in music and was awarded the Sheridan Award for Music Performance.

Raised in Suffolk, Georgia grew up surrounded by the music of Benjamin Britten and later drew creative inspiration from big band, soul, funk, and dance music. Georgia’s compositional practice focuses primarily on writing for the flute, encompassing styles from minimalism to neoromanticism. She has written works for solo flute, flute duet, and flute choir, and previously directed the flute choir The Silver Pencils, for which she composed a number of pieces. Georgia’s music is inspired either by the people she has encountered, taking the form of sound portraits, or by the atmosphere of her surroundings, informed by her study of psychogeography with Will Self.

Notable performances include Hebe (2017), premiered at the Old Royal Naval College Chapel by Anna Noakes, Freyr Sigurjónsson, Gabriella Dall’Olio, and Leo Nicholson, and Layla (2019), premiered by Duo Villanesca at St Mary’s Church, Frinton-on-Sea.
