Bruce Levine is a theatre and music professional, a composer, a writer and an academic. His life in theatre and music began in high school as a student musical director, oboist and pianist, and he turned professional immediately after graduation as a member of the original Broadway cast of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead. As an oboist, specializing on the English Horn, he played with such orchestras as the Boston Symphony. His stage and musical direction experiences have crossed most boundaries and genres including Broadway, Off-Broadway, regional, touring and children’s theatre. He has played piano for such performers as Betty Buckley, Paige O’Hara and
Joni Mitchell in Madison Square Garden.

Bruce is the composer of a featured song for Sesame Street, arrangements for Barry Manilow and Stevie Wonder, over a hundred published pieces of classical music, ranging from solos to symphony orchestra, with publishers including Carl Fischer, Theodore Presser, Norsk Musikkforlag, Art of Sound Music, Wingert-Jones Publications, Forton Music and Jamescliff Music and his shows have been produced in New York and around the country.

Bruce holds a Master of Arts degree in music composition and a Bachelor of Science degree in music education, both from New York University. He studied harmony with Robert di Domenica and composition with Ursula Mamlok. He’s taught theatre, musical theatre, IB theatre and music, and has been a choral director. In addition to his professional theatre work, in academia he’s stage and musically directed at both the High School and College levels.

A native Manhattanite, he now lives in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina where he maintains an activetheatre, music and academic schedule.
